SJ Fraser, MA LPCC
Pronouns: she/her
Intersecting identities that inform my practice: I identify as a White, Queer, Lesbian, Cisgender Woman.
Background & Approach: I am a dedicated professional with a lifelong commitment to enhancing the human experience. Having served as a first responder for six years, I identified a critical gap in mental health preparedness, especially for individuals with oppressed intersectional identities. This observation led me to pursue further education with the goal of making a positive impact on my community. I approach each individual with a recognition of their unique story, background, and influences. My aim is to create a safe and welcoming space for clients to openly share their thoughts, feelings, identities, and concerns. I believe everyone has strengths that we can identify and utilize to achieve their goals and create the meaningful life they have envisioned.
Theoretical & Clinical Orientation: My theoretical orientation combines narrative therapy and person-centered principles to explore and reshape personal stories collaboratively. I emphasize the intricate mind-body connection, using mindfulness practices and somatic interventions for holistic well-being. Integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I employ practical tools to identify and challenge negative thought patterns. I aim to support holistic growth and self-discovery through a tailored integration of diverse therapeutic modalities. Overall, my approach is tailored to each individual, weaving together these diverse modalities to support holistic growth and self-discovery.
